GEOTECHNICAL DIVISION

1. Soil Investigation

Gulf Consult's owns five, four-wheel drive mounted drilling rigs equipped for geotechnical investigations. Tow rigs are equipped for drilling large diameter holes. Our Down-the-Hole Hammers probe cavities up to 2 inches in diameter or drill 8 to 10 inch holes in rock strata.

Following in-situ tests can be performed in the field:

• Standard Penetration Test
• Collecting Undisturbed Samples by Shelby Tube and Dennison Sampler
• Dynamic Penetration Testing
• Static Cone Penetration Testing (Dutch Cone Tests) Using Mechanical as well as Electric Piezocone
• Cross-Hole Seismic Tests to Determine Dynamic Soil Parameters up to15 Meters Depth
• Surface Seismic Test
• Electrical Resistivity Test to Determine Parameters Required for Grounding Purpose
• In-Situ California Bearing Ratio Test
• Plate Load Test to Determine Sub-Soil parameters
• Coring in Rock

Above tests are performed according to ASTM methods.

2. Pile Foundation Testing

Gulfs Consult can perform axial compression, axial tension, or lateral (shear) Pile Load Tests. The pile load tests use a 400 tons capacity kentledge with concrete blocks as dead load. Full scale load tests on foundations can be performed to determine load settlement characteristics of the subsoil after ground improvement.

The Pile Integrity Test to check for discontinuity, cracking and reduction in pile diameter can be performed by Gulf Consult. Together, the pile and the pile integrity tests, can provide reasonable confidence about the pile foundation system.

3. Drill Deep And Shallow Large Diameter Holes

GULF CONSULT is capable of drilling boreholes up to 150 meters depth and to 24" diameter for the following purposes:

• Installation of deep and shallow anodes
• Installation of plunger casings for elevators
• Installation of steel beams for shoring purpose
• Installation of dewatering wells
